This introductory course is the first of two that explore the organization and function of the human body from the level of molecules to organ systems and the integration of systems within the whole organism. Specific topics in this course include cellular physiology with an emphasis on transport, metabolism and communication, the immune system, neural, muscle and sensory physiology and control of body movement. Students should complete the course with an understanding of how all systems must work together to maintain life.
