Comedies have always been among the most popular films. But what do some of the most provocative, artful, and downright hilarious in the genre make us laugh about? This course will help students in the critical examination of the cinematic genre of comedy, with emphasis on works from the last thirty years. The aesthetics, structure, and socially critical function of these comedies will be considered.
