Church Point (NS), April 27, 2018 - Université Sainte-Anne is pleased to announce that it has received generous funding from the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to offer scholarships of up to $ 7,500 to those interested in a career in early childhood development. This funding will be used to recruit and retain qualified staff, particularly in Nova Scotia's Acadian and Francophone communities.
With this amount of $ 222,525, Université Sainte-Anne will be able to cover 100% of tuition fees for Nova Scotian students admitted to the Early Childhood Education program through 2020. This two-year online diploma allows students to acquire a Level 1 or Level 2 classification and prepares graduates to work in early childhood education (ECE) (daycare, ECE center) and in schools (pre-primary and before and after school programming).
"For a number of years, the early childhood development environment has been experiencing a shortage of qualified staff - particularly in our Acadian and Francophone communities. We are delighted to be able to offer these very generous bursaries to encourage those who are passionate about children to get a solid education in ECE development and then pursue a career in this field" explains Marie-Germaine Chartrand, director of college programs at Université Sainte-Anne.
Part of this funding will also be used to develop leadership and management courses for ECE directors who are interested in acquiring new knowledge and skills in the management and administration of ECE centres.
This project is made possible by contributions received through the Canada-Nova Scotia Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, coordinated by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
For more information on these bursaries or the ECE Program, please contact Marie-Germaine Chartrand at 902-648-2048 or email
