Church Point (NS), June 22, 2021- In order to enrich the quality of our campus environment for staff, students, the community and our partners, Université Sainte-Anne continues to invest in green technologies at the Church Point campus.

Photovoltaic panels worth $300,000 are being installed near the greenhouse located on the Church Point campus. These solar panels will generate electricity that will be sold to Nova Scotia Power under the Solar for Community Buildings Program, with an estimated 10-year return on investment.

The Solar for Community Buildings Program, which is now closed, enables eligible community groups and organizations to generate up to 75kW of solar photovoltaic (PV) electricity on their roofs or properties and sell it to their utility under a 20-year contract. The program aimed to:

  • support community participation in renewable energy generation
  • learn more about how solar electricity can help Nova Scotia continue its clean energy transition.

This pilot program was run by the Nova Scotia Department of Energy and Mines in partnership with Clean Nova Scotia.
