Church Point, NS, March 9th, 2017 – The Laboratory for Innovation in Science and Industry (LISI) at Université Sainte-Anne invites you to a conference delivered by Daniel L. Silver and Christian Fray from the Acadia Institute for Data Analytics.
The presentation, titled "Cloud-based Analytics Overview," will show different ways we can take advantage of data and use it efficiently with tools that are readily available on the Web. This free event will take place on Thursday March 23rd 2017 at 6:00 pm in room BC-31 in the Bernadin Comeau building at the Church Point campus, as well as by videoconference at all Université Sainte-Anne campuses.
Data Analytics and Machine Learning is becoming increasingly accessible via easy-to-use tools and techniques available on the Web. This means that it is simpler than ever to generate insight and create predictions based on data without having to purchase and install hardware and software. This presentation will explain the benefits and drawbacks of several data analysis and predictive modeling tools such as Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Studio, Google Cloud Predictions API, IBM Analytics, and Amazon Machine Learning.
About the speakers
Daniel L. Silver is a Professor in the Jodrey School of Computer Science at Acadia University, and Director of the Acadia Institute for Data Analytics (AIDA). His research focuses on machine learning and its application in data analytics, data mining, user modelling, and intelligent and adaptive systems. He teaches related courses as well as courses on software engineering, web-centric programming and the impact of computing on the environment and society.
Christian Frey works for AIDA as a Business/Data Analyst. He holds a Bachelor's of Business Administration with a major in Computer Science. For AIDA, Christian works with companies to take advantage of their data and use data analytics to improve their business.
