Church Point, NS, November 2, 2018 – Université Sainte-Anne's Bibliothèque Louis-R.-Comeau was officially re-opened on November 2nd after several months of renovations.
Allister Surette, President and Vice-Chancellor of Université Sainte-Anne, was pleased to welcome students, staff and community members to the revitalized library.
"We are extremely grateful for the investments made by the Government of Canada, which allow the university to provide quality infrastructure and resources to our communities. These are more resources and advanced technologies that Université Sainte-Anne can offer to contribute to the vitality of remote and minority communities. "
- Allister Surette, President and Vice-chancelor
The total renovation budget was $880,000; the Government of Canada and Université Sainte-Anne each contributed $440,000. The funds have been used to modernize interior spaces and improve the energy efficiency of a building that had not been renovated since it opened in 1977. The majority of windows have been replaced with new, more airtight windows and all the lights have been replaced by LED lights, resulting in considerable energy savings.
The Louis-R.-Comeau Library now has a new computer lab with Smartboard, a post-secondary support center, new study rooms and a videoconference room. In addition, neat and modernized common areas with new furniture provide a pleasant setting for anyone who wants to use the services or resources of the library. These resources and spaces are available to the academic community, as well as members of the public.
