The Santé courses, developed with the help of Réseau Santé Nouvelle-Écosse, are for people who interact with French-speaking patients and healthcare professionals.
The Santé 1 course (prerequisite: intermediate 2) is intended primarily to help the learner in the area of reception and care of patients in the department, that is to say to ask questions about their symptoms, educate them about procedure and care and of course, be able to answer all of their questions. In this class, different vocabulary themes are discussed such as symptoms, medical equipment, different health services, but also the grammar necessary to be fully functional in French and to serve patients as well as possible.
The Santé 2 course (prerequisite: intermediate 3) aims to help the healthcare professional to obtain an optimal level of communication with their patients as well as with their colleagues and superiors. In this class, the vocabulary themes vary according to the professions of each one in order to be as close as possible to reality.
The Office of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie, with funding from the Canada-N.S. Agreement on French-language services, is covering the course fee for 155 participants from the government of Nova Scotia.
